Dear Patients,

At Dr. Spamer’s dental office our priority is always the health, comfort, and safety of our patients and team members.

We are keeping a very close eye on the latest public health guidelines on the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID 19), as we are sure you are as well. We wanted to take a moment to update you on the precautions we have been implementing, and to share some updated health and safety guidelines for the protection of our patients, team members, and practice.

To decrease risk factors, standard precautions, plus infection control procedures, are routinely followed as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Additionally, the World Health Organization guidelines are a daily resource.

You Should Know: One of the first precautions you will see in our office are hand sanitizers and masks. These are there to share with anyone who is concerned about possible exposure. Dental professionals for decades have worn gloves, masks, eye protection, and gowns during procedures to protect themselves and patients from contamination. Before entering one of an operatories, all surfaces, such as the dental chair, light, counter tops, drawer handles, have been thoroughly cleaned and disinfected.

Following recommendations outlined by the CDCP, we will continue to screen all patients for recent travels outside of the U.S., and for those who have been exposed to someone else recently diagnosed in their community.

The World Health Organization reports about 80 percent of COVID-19 cases are mild. Most involve fever, cough and perhaps shortness of breath. People with mild cases are expected to recover without issue, and some may not be aware they’re ever sick.

If you are healthy, there is no need to cancel your regularly scheduled dental appointment. On the other hand, if you are ill with flu-like symptoms (fever, cough, shortness of breath), it is recommended to reschedule your visit to a later date when clear of illness.

Here are a few reminders that you can do on your own to help keep yourself and those around you healthy:

  • Wash your hands frequently or use a hand sanitizer with at least 60% ethyl alcohol.
  • Avoid touching your face, eyes, or nose to reduce the spread of germs.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with your elbow. Infections like the Coronavirus spread through the tiny droplets in coughs and sneezes.
  • Stay home if you feel sick. If you have flu-like symptoms or otherwise feel unwell, stay home and rest. Call our office to reschedule your appointment for a later date.

If you have questions about our precautions or our scheduling policies, please feel free to call us 925-838-0066 or contact us on our emergency line 925-389-6204

We appreciate having great patients like you and wish you continued health and happiness.

Dr. Marianne Spamer and Team
